Thank you for your interest in the Feral Cat Alliance spay/neuter program! We are a volunteer operated organization at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and are working to reduce the feral cat overpopulation through a humane trap-neuter-release program. This program is for feral cats and barn cats only, no house pets are accepted.
We require a $25 donation per cat to offset the costs of our services, which include:
Physical Exam
Spay/Neuter surgery
Vaccinations for rabies, distemper, calicivirus, and feline influenza
Topical flea, tick, and deworming treatment
Testing for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV)
Ear tipping (we remove just the tip of each cat’s left ear as a sign that they have been spayed or neutered)
Our clinics are held approximately one Saturday a month, at the Iowa State University Veterinary College. Each cat must be brought individually in a sturdy pet carrier or humane live trap. We do have traps to lend to you, and will send information about how to borrow one before each clinic. Cats are dropped off in the morning, and picked up later that afternoon after they have fully recovered from their surgery.
If you are interested in having your feral cats attend one of our clinics, please email the Cat Coordinator at isufca@yahoo.com to be put on our waiting list or be assigned to one of our available clinic dates. Cats are taken by appointment only and we are unable to accept walk-ins.
